Mahatma Gandhi University, one of the four affiliating universities in Kerala, is the premier educational institution that strives to fulfill the higher educational needs of the people of Central Kerala. Set on the sprawling 110-acre campus called Priyadarshini Hills at Athirampuzha, 13 kms off Kottayam, the University also has seven satellite campuses in parts of Kottayam and the neighboring districts. From its inception and through the last two decades Mahatma Gandhi University has taken immense strides in the fields of inter-disciplinary teaching and research in the areas of pure and applied sciences, social sciences and the humanities.

At present Mahatma Gandhi University offers research programmes in over forty disciplines through its own Schools as well as through its approved research centers.

The University was established on 2 October 1983 and has jurisdiction over the revenue districts of Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and parts of Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha. It is a University that conducts a range of programmes at the undergraduate, postgraduate, M Phil and doctoral levels through its 16 University Departments, 7 Self-Financing Departments, 82 Aided Affiliated Colleges (of which 8 are Colleges with Potential for Excellence), 158 Unaided Affiliated Colleges and 73 Recognized Research Institutes. It imparts education in the conventional disciplines of science, social science, and the humanities as well as in the professional disciplines of medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, engineering, technology, pedagogy and legal studies. The University has also made its educational presence felt outside its territorial jurisdiction through the Off-campus Centres of the School of Distance Education.

Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam Admission 2019

MG University Admission to various Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Research programmes offered by the university are done on the basis of either Student’s merit in the qualifying degree or their marks in the university entrance examination viz. CAT-MGU.

Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam Undergraduate Admissions

In case of Undergraduate Admissions, eligible Students can apply through the official MG University website by clicking “UG-CAP 2019” link and following the instructions. Those seeking admission through merit/management quota/ sports quota/ can apply directly to the concerned institute. Final selection of the Student is done on the basis of their marks in the qualifying degree merit.

Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam Postgraduate Admissions

In case of Postgraduate courses, Students are shortlisted differently for different specializations. For certain specializations in BA and BSc, Students are selected on the basis of qualifying degree merit while CAT-MGU is organized for other specializations. Those who wish to apply can log on to “PG-CAP 2019” tab or “CAT-MGU” section for registering themselves to the respective programmes.

Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam Ph.D./ M.Phil Admissions

For Research courses viz. Ph.D. and M.Phil, Students must appear for the Written Aptitude Test (WAT), organized by the university itself. Once selected, they can register by filling the application form and appear for the interview round. Final selection will be done by the university committee on the basis of Students performance in WAT and interview. Students must submit the required fee through challan and attach the receipt along with the application form.
